Gabrielle grew up in New York City, where she was always encouraged to follow what ever she was interested in. For most of her young life it was drawing and sculpture, followed by singing in the school choir. She represented the United States at Venezuela’s Simon Bolivar Festival and in Saint Patrick’s Cathedral International Holiday Celebration. For her sixteenth birthday she received a guitar, which she learned to play by ear. After one year she followed her dream into the NYC folk circuit. Since then she won the Spree National Song Writing Contest and one of her songs took honorable mention in the Great American Songwriting Contest. Her debut full length CD, “Dreamtown” received critical acclaim and was voted 3rd best unsigned CD of the year by Music Connection Magazine. She is currently finishing her third CD. When she is not in the recording studio, she is touring festivals such as the Bethlehem Musik Festival and the Nashville New Music Conference, colleges and clubs, with bass player Nicholas D’Amato and renown drummer/percussionist John Clancy as backup. Gabrielle’s sound has evolved bordering what is being termed: “Folk-a-funk,” incorporating blues, folk rock, and world beats. |
